Falls it’s here! And since we are homeschooling you know during the fall we make fall crafts and activities. Autumn, it’s the perfect time to collect leaves, pinecones, and create all sorts of things such as this fall butterfly.

Right now my daughter is into butterflies and that’s really all she wants to know about so we had the idea of making a fall butterfly.

Since you know I love this season I was like such a great idea. In the beginning, we were going to go and pick up some leaves and make it like that but then I was at the dollar store and found some leaves with glitter so I was obsessed with their beauty that I got them.

All the materials being used for this project are from the dollar store. But if your budget does not allow, just collect some leaves and get the other stuff if you don’t have it.

You know homeschool can be expensive but the dollar store usually carries most of the supplies we use for crafts.

Materials

  1. 1 pack Leaves from the dollar store
  2. Glue
  3. Scissors
  4. Pomp pom balls
  5. Paper plates or cardboard
  6. Pipe cleaners

Instructions

First, we are going to start by drawing a big X on the plate. This is how we are going to make the wings. I used a plate simply because it was round and I thought it was a good fit but you can also use cardboard from the dollar store.

Then you are going to cut the shape of the butterfly leaving a little space in the middle of the wings.

Now the fun part begins: help your kids glue the leaves to the butterfly wings make sure you put enough glue all around the edges of the wings and cover with leaves.

This can be very fun for the little ones my daughter had such a good time doing this. Once you finish with the leaves it’s time to put the antennas, grab the pipe cleaner, and criss-cross around the middle of the butterfly make sure you twist it on the middle look at the picture below.

Once done with that add the pom pom-poms, three in the middle of the butterfly, and 1 on each antenna.
